[Newspoetry] Bush to reign or resign?

Friedman said, in an op-ed today,
And on TV, too, so it has to be true.
 
Bush should sack his economic team
And appoint all of Obama's crew now.
 
The crisis requires confidence to overcome its malaise.
 
But, as it won't go away, not in months,
This depression that threatens the world,
More than that needs to be done.
 
Bush needs to make the supreme sacrifice:
Ask Cheney to resign, appoint Obama Vice President,
Then, when he is confirmed, resign himself -
And let Obama bring Biden in as vice president.
 
It is too stupid for words, in a crisis,
To wait for January 20th.  The people have spoken,
Politics as usual is simple suicide, nationally.
 
The interregnum need not take so long,
Leaving us lurching from day to day.
