[Newspoetry] A Presidency We Can Honor

Did you see the State of the Union?
 
If not, get on the tube and find a re-run.
 
It wasn't a great speech, so far as oratory goes.
 
It was firm and annunciative - 
Outlining our major prospects and problems.
 
I loved the center piece on our domestic agenda:
To fix the energy equation, the education deficit, 
And, most critically, to establish unequivocally health care for all.
 
In foreign affairs, I think we have some surprises coming -
I think we are actually going to withdraw from Iraq,
And on Obama's schedule, not that of the war-mongering crowd,
Who would leave us stranded there forever.
 
I could go on and on,
In paeans of praise, but read or watch the speech -
Just as with the Inaugural Address, it is worth seeing many times.
