No subject

to treatment of one's fellow human beings,
I have never seen a group
of more callous, cynical, indifferent --
but never really "cruel" --
as in the sense of evil --
but in the sense of coldly calculating --
people than those who flourish
in luxurious palaces,
or in suburban paradises.

Now, there's an idea --
terrorists flourish in poverty!
but rich people flourish also,
but differently, somehow
(Maybe Powell will inverse quote Gatsby
"You know the poor are not like us")
in the suburbs --
regardless of whether or not
there is a future
that is just there to see.

I guess Colin wants us all to be prophets --
See the future and stop reproducing
or else cease surviving
in your marginal economic way
so as to help in the war against terrorism.

It used to be the Army and the Navy
just wanted us to enlist and
"see the world and learn useful trades..."
I guess Colin means something different
than you or I might mean by the word "see",
especially in light of how the Army/Navy
think that learning better how to kill
your fellow man or woman is a useful trade.

Colin's Mantra:
I will become a rich and powerful person
so I can be devoted to the American way of life.

Colin's Song:
I don't wanna be no terrorist anymore, anymore
I don't wanna be no terrorist anymore...
Oh Lord, I do believe,
I don't wanna be no terrorist anymore.

I guess Colin
went to one
too many
martini luncheons
on Martin Luther King day
and thought he had discovered
the causes of social unrest
by seeing other black people there,
the ones that
I'd be tempted to say
better understand
and better exemplify
the plight of poor people
than he ever has.

Duh.

Thanks for listening.
Don
