Glad to see this discussion going, I am going to speak from someone who is
researching Judaism.
I am taking the conversion classes with the Rabbi at Sinai Temple, our first
discussion was on the history of Zionism. We talked alot about the Law of
Return and why atheist Jews are covered under the Return law but not
Messianic Jews , or Jews that practice a different religion. Well, I asked
if someone who is an Israeli Jew converts to another religion like Islam or
Bahai, do they lose the privileges of being a Jew in Israel. No response.
Does anyone know of situations like this?

Also, like David, I am outspoken even to the point of the director of Hillel
stopping me from entering the building just for silently picketing on the
Quad every Thursday.
On the other hand, i do have to watch how I say stuff around Hillel and
Sinai. Already Hillel has labeled me as a "prospective self-hating Jew".

I feel there needs to be a safe place for Jews and non Jews to speak their
minds about Israels crimes towards the Palestinians and not be branded as an
anti-semite or self-hating Jew. Unfortunately on campus, Hillel is the only
Jewish center or organization. In my utopia world, I dream of an alternative
Hillel that is not ideologically controlled by AIPAC and ADL. One day, i
hope that my dream will be a reality for Jewish college students.

Please add your comments.
Robert
