[Peace-discuss] Another conspiracy theorist

You know, it's funny. I think that a lot of the anti-war movement is
disregarded as conspiracy theorists. Yet when the media starts covering
the anti-war movement, all of a sudden we are the ones forming the
conspiracies. (see Mark Thompson's N-G reference to "Puppet Masters")

There was a letter to the editor in today's DI that somebody should
respond to (I plan on responding to a different letter, so it would be
good if somebody would respond to this one):

Too quick to judge

Don't be so quick to judge. In the DI’s recent story about the theft of
"No Iraq War" signs, the DI and others immediately assumed it was wild
teenage liberation supporters that committed the act. Is it possible
that it is another case of reverse incrimination? Ever heard of a little
case of colonists dressing up as American Indians to throw some tea off
of a boat? Ever heard of Iraqi soldiers dressing up as U.S. and British
soldiers to commit war crimes and have it televised? Remember a few
years ago when some extremist fliers were inserted into hundreds of
copies of the DI? These are cases of crimes committed by one group
designed to incriminate the other by making it seem as though the group
they are against is working in an illegal capacity. Did anyone bother to
check on the political affiliations of the youths implicated in some of
the thefts? Is it possible they were just out to have some fun, or maybe
even part of a leftist plot? Anyone involved in the theft of a great
number of signs would have to know it would attract negative media
attention. Is it not feasible that at least some cases of sign theft are
acts of reverse incrimination? Is it possible that some members of the
“peace at any cost” faction seek to sink the message of those in favor
of bringing democracy to an oppressed people?
