[Peace-discuss] WEFT needs you

How are you going to persuade more people to join the peace movement?
Through education? Those who are just beginning to question the lies that
mainstream news sources tell them will not take the time to go to search
something off of the web. It is hard to get them to a lecture or teach in.
But you might get them to change their radio station for an hour each day
and tune into Amy Goodman's War and Peace report on Democracy Now!

If you think this is important. It is important that you support WEFT
(90.1FM)financially during there present pledge drive. If you think the
public affairs programming is important on WEFT, call in during that time.

We have had tremendous support during 4-5pm time slot during the last two
days. Many AWARE members have already called. We need to hear from the rest
of you. Calling in is better than just sending your renewal form in if you
want it to be know that you would like your pledge to influence programming
toward more public affairs.

WEFT has to make $30,000 during this drive to stay on the air. I know that
some of you think that DN! should be broadcast during a different time and
more often. Did you know that some Pacifica affiliates aren't even
broadcasting the two hours? We need to recognize that we are privleged to
have what we have, even if we want more. Don't think about a financial
boycott to get more public affair. It makes no sense. WEFT needs the money
just to keep what we have. Instead think about supporting WEFT by calling in
your pledge during the broadcast of DN!

In solidarity,
Sandra Ahten
AWARE member and WEFT programming committee (PC)member
