Thank you, Kim for your evenhanded clarifications and
Randall for pursuing this in such a rational way, and
Chas. 'Mark' Bee and the folks at WEFT who reviewed
this ad and did the right thing!

By the way, cmb- as someone who has reviewed the PSA
guidelines (as has Randall, I believe, as an
airshifter), I'd like to point out that the
Palestinian Truth Tour PSA I mentioned DID meet the
guidelines, the recruitment ad did NOT. You yourself
very honestly said so, and did the right thing. Why
is it so wrong to question this mistake in a
semi-public way (especially when the recruitment ad
was played very publicly)?

I'm not trying to blame anyone other than one myopic
airshifter for the trouble with the Truth Tour PSA, I
just think it's ironic; and I think it's funny when
folks get all high and mighty over a little criticism
that they lose their sense of balance.

To wit, when one airshifter disagreed with the
politics of the Truth tour PSA, refused to play it,
and hung up on a listener who called about it, somehow
that wasn't 'censorship' -- even though it qualifies
under your own definition: "Your motives for shutting
this down, though perhaps honorable, are also
political ones - that's censorship, regardless of what
happens 'elsewhere'."

Then, when a spot gets played that really DOESN'T meet
the guidelines (the ones WE are inexplicably asked to
review, even tho the mistake was at WEFT - probably an
honest one), and it happens to be a particularly
heinous one, and several listener-supporters express
(god forbid!) emotion -- well, that's 'censorship'???

That said, I appreciate your comments about coming to
the station and volunteering, and I think you are
right - with a qualification. We are all doing what
we can. You, for example, are very involved in WEFT
and that probably doesn't leave you much time to be as
actively anti-war as you'd like. Randall is very
involved in AWARE, and is also involved in WEFT. I am
involved in AWARE, and went through WEFT's airshifter
training only to discover that raising twin boys
didn't leave me enough time to be as involved in WEFT
as I'd like. Maybe some day.

For now, like many others, I listen, I send my money,
and I speak up when something's wrong. Hope you see
my point.

Sincerely,
Ricky
