Americans Against War With Iraq is an endorser of the mass
marches happening in Los Angeles on January 11 and in DC and San
Francisco on January 18 and we invite you to join us! Now is
the time for all concerned people to raise their voices against
Bush's rush to war. March under the AAWWI banner!

Dr. Martin Luther King said that "The greatest purveyor of
violence on the planet is my own government." That statement
is as true today as it was during the Vietnam War. We will
honor Dr. King's legacy by marching on January 11 and 18
against a war on Iraq and Bush's plans to terrorize the world.

In Los Angeles on the 11th, assemble at 11 am at Olympic and
Broadway and march to the downtown Federal Building for the
rally. There will be healthcare, student and youth, and immigrants
contingents joining the main march.

The scenario for January 18th includes a brief rally on
the West side of the Capitol Building in Washington DC
starting at 11 am, followed by a massive march to the
Washington DC Navy Yard -- a massive military installation
located in a working class neighborhood in Southeast
Washington DC that parks warships on the Anacostia River.
For San Francisco on the 18th, assemble at 11 am at the foot
of Market St. at Embarcadero. Rally then march to Civic Center
Plaza (Grove & Larkin) adjacent to City Hall for a closing rally
with speakers, entertainment and cultural performances.

January 27 - the Trigger for War
WHY WE MUST ACT NOW!

MOBILIZE FOR JANUARY 18:
National March on Washington
to Stop Bush's War on Iraq

"Most United Nations diplomats" believe that the war can
come in "record time" after the weapons inspectors' report
is presented to the U.N. on January 27. "Not coincidentally,"
reports Reuters (1/1/03), "the date is an approximate time
when the U.S. military would be ready to attack."

Intervention by the people of the United States can stop
the Bush Administration from using the report as an
automatic trigger. The Associated Press reports in its New
Year's poll that 2/3 of respondents in the U.S. are worried
that an attack on Iraq will bring an attack on the soil of
the U.S.

Despite the fact that weapons inspectors have found no
trace of chemical, biological or nuclear weapons in Iraq
after unfettered access and 200 searches across the
country, Defense Secretary Rumsfeld has ordered the
doubling of troops near Iraq to over 100,000 by early
January. The Pentagon is sending 11,000 more desert
trained combat soldiers, foot soldiers, armor, aviation
and artillery units, dozens more striker aircraft and two
more aircraft carrier battle groups to the region by early
January as well.

The January 18 National March on Washington DC may very
well be the last opportunity that we have on a national
level to show the breadth and depth of opposition -- the
last chance to stop Bush's scheduled plan to start this
war on Iraq. It is imperative that as many people as
possible fill the streets of Washington DC to show united
and mass opposition and the strength and power of our
movement.

While local actions are the essence of a grassroots
movement and continue to take place everyday, there are
times that require the people of the United States to come
together in the largest possible mobilization.
