U-C IMC 2nd Anniversary Gala Celebration

On January 18, beginning at 6 PM, the Urbana-Champaign Independent Media
Center celebrates two years of grassroots media production in its downtown
Urbana home. Everyone is invited to come see how Indymedia has taken root
in Urbana-Champaign and see how it has grown.
There will be free food and drink, and the opening of the traveling
political art exhibition, "Drawing Resistance."

The Urbana-Champaign IMC had its grand opening January 19, 2001, becoming
one of only a few IMCs worldwide to have its own space. Since then the IMC
has spawned the weekly IMC Radio News program on WEFT and the monthly
alternative newspaper, the public I. Other IMC projects include: a
progressive library, the Middle Room Art Gallery and a live performance space.
The IMC is a tax-exempt non-profit funded by membership and community
donations. Membership is open to everyone.

The Urbana-Champaign Independent Media Center's 2nd Anniversary Celebration
begins 6 PM Saturday, January 18 at 218 W. Main St. in downtown Urbana. The
event is free and open to the public. For more information see the IMC
website at www.ucimc.org or call 344-8820.
