I know that I argued against changing our name at our last meeting, but
this seemed like good idea worth discussing. It broadens our scope,
dialogue and work.

Racism is one facet of the repression experienced within a highly
militarized economy. In fact, I suspect that racism is just a method of
control: class anger safely redirected away from the ruling elite towards
others of a lower class.

I am concerned with all groups who are repressed, and all groups cannot be
identified by race.

I think we should continue doing work with racism, but address the
underlying class issue.

The only danger with changing our name is that 'AWARE' will no longer lend
itself to perplexed meditation by those who do not understand the
connection between racism and war. And thinking is always a valuable
exercise to induce in people...
