A propos of the article circulated (below) by Carl:

Le Monde Diplomatique is a monthly periodical well worth supporting for 
its global, anti-corporate, humanitarian view of the world. It now has 
a printed English edition, about which you can find information at:

  http://mondediplo.com

It covers the world, seriously. A unique source of information from a 
leftist point of view. It should not be confused with Le Monde, a 
slightly leftist  major French daily newspaper, not so different from 
the NYT, but with an independent perspective less linked to corporate 
(and Israeli) interests. Le Monde partially owns Le Monde Diplomatique, 
but the latter is editorially different (far more to the left) and 
independent of Le Monde.
