Subject: Meetings with Your Senators

Join Your Neighbors in Local Meetings with Senators to
Oppose the Blank Check for Iraq Quagmire

Congressional leaders hoped to silence debate and hurry the vote on President
Bush's request for another $87 billion for the Iraq War.

But you and 86,000 other TrueMajority members urged Congress to reject
President Bush's request for an $87 billion blank check unless he first details
a plan to turn over the rebuilding of Iraq to the United Nations and replaces
his national security team that got America into this quagmire.

This outpouring of citizen opposition made Congress sit up and listen - the
vote has been delayed. So now we have a little more time to pour on the
pressure.

Together with like-minded online organizations MoveOn.org and Working Assets,
TrueMajority is organizing citizen visits to the state offices of Senators
while they are home this week.

The meetings will take place Thursday, October 9 at 12:30 p.m. local time.
Faxes to Congress are great, but the most powerful way to make your voice heard
is a personal visit to your representative's office. And this Thursday,
citizens in your community who share our values are going to do just that. You
can too.

The format is pretty simple: organizers will call ahead to let the Senate
office know you're coming. You'll get an e-mail picture of a voided blank
check. Just print it out, write a note to your Senator and gather with other
folks at 12:30 pm at the office. Participants will share who they are and why
they're there, and deliver the voided blank checks to the Senator or a staff
member. It'll be fun, easy, and it'll send a clear message to the Senate that
people are concerned.

Yours for Peace in Iraq,

Ben Cohen

P.S. The Congressional year is winding down and a lot of important stuff will
go down in Washington this month. So TrueMajority is sending out a few more
alerts than usual in October. But promise, when Congress goes home in November
there'll be fewer e-mails coming your way.

- If you'd like to contact us, don't reply to this e-mail. Instead, go here:

Representative for you, just go here to change it.
