Pasted below is a call to join in protest against Caterpiller
scheduled for April 23rd in Peoria. Cat makes the bulldozers
sold to Israel's IDF that have been used in the demolition of
countless Palestinian homes--most recently in order to
construct the "security fence," aka Apartheid Wall. The
parents of Rachel Corrie will be on hand, whose daughter,
Rachel, was killed by a Cat bulldozer while defending the
home of a Palestinian physician one year ago.
More information is posted below, and a good source of
information is also the group "stop cat" at
http://www.stopcat.org/index.html. I hope to be able to go--
it would be nice to see a contingent from CU. Please forward
and discuss widely.
BTW, Cat is also a leader in outsourcing, and with the
colaboration of the corrupt upper echelons of the UAW, has
outsourced and destroyed the living standards of many
Illinois working people in Peoria and Decatur. A new
contract is now being negotiated that is likely to accelerate
this process.

************************
On April 23 in Peoria, Illinois, Rachel Corrie's parents will
be protesting in Peoria the national headquarters of
Caterpillar, the makers of the bulldozers that are
demolishing homes and lives. This is a campaign that
everyone should be a part of immediately. Buses from all
over the U.S. (buses will be leaving from the Chicago area
too) with supporters should be in Peoria on April 23.
This campaign is something everyone should take part in. The
Corrie's spoke yesterday in the Chicago area and their
message of peace for all people is something everyone can
stand behind. Their daughter, Rachel, a non-violent
peace actist, was killed when an Israeli soldier bulldozed
her. She was trying to stop the demolition of a physician's
family home in Palestine. The Corrie's deserve our
support. For more information go to
www.stopcat.org. The most important part of this
rally/demonstration and
what will appeal to Americans and all good people is the
support for
non-violence. Rachel Corrie courageously died protesting
through
non-volience--we cannot let her die in vain. If we can make
a big enough
showing in Peoria and keep this campaign alive by contacting
our
congressperson and other elected officials (see info at
website), we can
effect change!
PLEASE GET INVOLVED AND SPREAD THE WORD
FRIDAY, APRIL 23, Peoria Civic Center, Peoria, Illinois
Rally and March to CAT headquarters
Noon Until 4 p.m.
Join a coalition of more than 50 organizations in demanding
that Caterpillar
sever all contacts with the Israeli military. Caterpillar
bulldozers have
been used to illegally destroy thousands of Palestinians
homes!
