Dr. Helen Caldicott will be interviewed by Diane Sawyer on ABC-TV's Good
Morning America program ( <http://abcnews.go.com/Sections/GMA/>
http://abcnews.go.com/Sections/GMA/) tomorrow morning, Thursday, 15 April
2004 beginning at 7:30 a.m. Eastern time. She will talk about the short- and
long-term medical implications of exposure to depleted uranium, a substance
produced by spent armor-piercing weapons used in the Iraq conflict.

This interview resulted from a press briefing hosted by the Nuclear Policy
Research Institute this morning at the National Press Club in Washington.
Our briefing featured NPRI's executive director, Charles Sheehan-Miles, who
spoke about his experiences as a Gulf War veteran; Dr. Thomas Fasy, who
provided context about types and levels of exposure and resulting symptoms;
and Specialist Anthony Phillips and Corporal Anthony Yonnone, two U.S. Army
military policemen who recently returned from Iraq with debilitating
illness.

* The briefing was well attended by print and broadcast reporters.
Caldicott noted, "News organizations are beginning to recognize that
radioactive materials are a serious public health threat. Depleted uranium
exposure will cause cancer and long-term genetic disease.?
* An audiofile of today?s press briefing is on NPRI's web site at:
