[Peace-discuss] Tonight's meeting

A comment from a male who was perhaps too contentious this evening.

Al said:

"One of reasons for our success is that we have respectful discussion.  
For whatever reason, what happened tonight was an exception to our 
rule."

I didn't sense that the discussion wasn't respectful. The tones were 
more elevated (?) than usual, but not personally offensive.

If there are matters of import, and differences of opinion, one would 
hope they would be aired. A differing opinion will necessarily 
sometimes offend. Folks usually don't like their arguments to be 
countered or refuted. But that does not necessarily imply disrespect 
for the person, although it may imply disrespect, i.e. disagreement, 
with the opinions expressed. Does that make sense? We know from 
experience that we are sometimes wrong or don't have the full picture. 
We learn that partially from contending rational argumentation.

Yes, let's hear from those who felt in any way repressed from stating 
their feelings.
