despite the hateful personal remarks directed towards you in the past week, you have amazingly created a respectful, balanced, reasonable response.  never would i be able to collect myself so quickly and produce such a letter as you have done.  a side-by-side comparison of the nasty, contentless ad hominem attacks with your response shows beyond a doubt who, thus far, has been truly committed to discussion and scholarly debate - two supposed aims of our university.
