Lora, I know where you are coming from and I admire your outrage. But I think that you have completely lost sight of what it takes to get elected in our country: MONEY.

Now if you want to beat Bush, you have to have money, and a lot of it. Where do you find it? You have to go to those who have it in large amounts, and that is not your average voter, and certainly not your average progressive or peacenik. Kucinich can tell you all about that.

No, you have to go to rich people and more importantly, rich institutions of all sorts. Many of them are “comfortable” with our foreign policy. More importantly, almost all of them are only interested in backing a winner; and they know what the polls say. And I suspect that their general feeling is that the average voter has so bought into our fear propaganda, that he or she simply does not want to do things a whole lot differently than we are now doing them. Even if they (the fat cats) realize that our national paranoia is largely based on bullshit, and don’t believe it themselves, they feel that the average voter does believe; and nobody is going to change that – especially not when the media and the Bushies thrive on fostering it.

So they all know that we peacenik/progressives exist. They also know that we are numerically insignificant and that the average flag-waving voter mistrusts and probably hates us. Further, they know that if Kerry moved in our direction that he would lose any chance at undecideds who may not hate us, but certainly don’t want to be in bed with us. So if Kerry moves our way, the fear is that he will lose both financial support and votes; he will lose way more than he gains. Face up to it: in the overall picture, we are a liability to Kerry, with both the moneyed and the undecided.

I suspect that he would like to move our way, but that both the fat cats and the polls tell him that he simply cannot. So he doesn’t; and you, and a lot of others like you get pissed. This of course thrills the Bushies, for they are counting on outraged people like yourself to keep Bush in office. You do that by simply not voting for Kerry. And, while I am sure that you are not stupid, if you truly think that Democratic policies on health care, civil rights, environment, homeland security (Jeez, I hate that Nazi term), education, employment, and a host of other domestic issues would be no better than Bush’s (or I should say Chaney’s,) then I truly think that without doubt you are indeed really, really stupid.

ELECT BUSH!!! – VOTE FOR NADER!

ELECT BUSH!!! – VOTE GREEN!

ELECT BUSH!!! – VOTE FOR KUCINICH!

ELECT BUSH!!! – VOTE FOR ANYBODY BUT KERRY!

ELECT BUSH!!! – DON’T VOTE!

There was a study done recently in Wisc., aired on Democracy Now approx 2 weeks ago, it showed that as Kerry's campaign rhetoric stands now, he will only get 45% of the vote, almost exactly tied with Bush. But if he were to move to the left on economic policy(NAFTA, WTO, CAFTA, FTAA), Foreign Policy (getting out of Iraq, no draft, etc.) and National Health Care similar to Kucinich's platform, (whom I voted for), then he would get 75% of the vote!!! My whole push now, every waking moment, is to get Kerry to move to the left, I sure could use some help!!! Because although in the recent past, most of the Democrats have been almost as bad as the Republicans as far as corporatism and militarism is concerned,(I.e.Clinton), I appreciate the few in the Democratic party, (Kucinich and Wellstone are 2 examples) who appear to be populist politicians! So I do not believe there is a pervasive, dark, secret agreement amongst all Democrats! I believe that corruption by the corporations
  and the
military-industrial-media complex is based on their unfettered access to the politicians, which can be minimized by the politicians if so desired! I also appreciate that there has been a recent substantial deep awareness of the interrelationship of all of our economic and foreign policy issues among many groups, (the unions, anti-war groups and environmentalists). This gives me hope that Congress won't be able to slip a fast one over on us now, as they did in the past,(I.e.NAFTA)!
So I am going to do my best to get Kerry to move to the LEFT, so that he can win and WE, Americans can win, rather than be an ideologue and allow Bush to win as retribution for the past!
If Kerry changes his stance on the Iraq War and starts calling for a phased withdrawal of our troops and allows either UN peace keepers or a coalition of Islamic peace keepers to move into Iraq, until their security has improved and relinquishes all control of the Oil!
If he agrees to withhold all aid from Israel until a fair solution to the crisis is agreed upon by both the people of Palestine and Israel!
If he agrees to move from militarism by cutting the military budget, especially by cutting the Missile Defense system and saying NO to the draft!
If he starts speaking of actively pursuing a diplomatic, peaceful solution to terrorism via economic, military and cultural fairness rather than domination!
If he agrees to pursue the Space Preservation Treaty and Act and end the weaponization of space!
If he agrees to repealing the Patriot Act!
If he agrees to closing the SOA, getting our noses out of Venezuela's and Haiti's business and ending the ridiculous War on Drugs in Columbia!
If he agrees to repealing Nafta, the WTO and drops CAFTA and the FTAA!
If he agrees to at least look at National Health Care!
If he agrees to actively subsidize and build the renewable energy industry, (Wind, Solar, Geothermal and NOT Nuclear!) so that jobs are created and we can cut our consumption of fossil fuels by at least 20% by 2010!!!!
I will reward him with my vote!
To withhold my vote as retribution for past crimes of the Democrats when there is evidence of a shift in the understanding of the entire situation by Kerry, would be immature and would only serve to punish the American people by possibly allowing Bush to win again. If Kerry does not change his stance on most of these important matters then I will interpret that as a deep commitment to militarism and corporatism and I will move from the country probably before Nov 04!!!!!
I understand that convincing Kerry is a long shot but I also do not see any other intelligent choice, the reality is, that come Nov. 04, either Bush or Kerry will be Pres.-elect! I can not imagine Bush moving to the left, so I am not even trying to change him!
As I said before, "I could use some help!" Please write Kerry, over and over at :
Senator Kerry, c/o Kerry For Pres. 901 15th st.-NW-floor 700, Wash, DC, 20005. I always get a timely, small, hand written note back so I know his campaign is reading my letters. If we all wrote to him, he WOULD GET THE MESSAGE!!!!
There is also a protest on Thur July 1st, 7pm, outside a fund raiser for Kerry at the Civic Opera Building, 20 N. Wacker.
There are also many actions at the Kucinich campaign website;
www.kucinich.us/petitions -please go to this site today, time is running out for the petitions!
www.kucinich.us/platform/index.php , to communicate directly with the Democratic party on 17 different issues!
www.kucinic.us/convention/convention_why_go.php , for info on going to the DNC in Boston, July23rd-29th.
Help pass the attached flyer!
Please pass this on to all your friends!
