Dear friends,

The legislation that could dismantle contraceptive coverage (and many 
other basic health insurance requirements) in the State of Illinois 
is up for a vote tomorrow in the Illinois Senate. Please take a 
moment to send an email to all of the senators to tell them to vote 
NO on HB 5925.

Below you will find a sample email and the list of all the emails for 
Illinois state senators. Please find a few minutes today to send this 
very important email. Please forward a copy of the email to me at 
brooke at shout.net. And if you've already emailed your individual 
senator, please go ahead and still email all the senators together --

HERE IS A SAMPLE EMAIL TO SEND:

Dear Senators:

I am writing to urge you to vote NO tomorrow on HB 5925.

HB 5925 would create a two-tiered health insurance system in which 
employers could offer two different plans to their employees: a full 
coverage plan which includes all state mandates, and a stripped-down 
plan ("Consumers Choice") that would not have to include all 
mandates. Masquerading under the name "Consumers Choice," this 
legislation could greatly hurt consumers!

The state mandates that could be ELIMINATED in a stripped down 
"Consumers Choice" plan include:

   -- pap smears
   -- contraceptives and related services
   -- breast implant removal
   -- infertility treatment
   -- mammograms
   -- physician determined hospital stay after mastectomy
   -- prenatal HIV testing
   -- much more!

There is nothing in the proposed legislation that would protect 
consumers. Consumers will just up having to pay more in premiums to 
get the basic health care that they need.

Vote NO on HB 5925!
