CNN Special Report "Fit To Kill"

Young soldiers are trained to kill, sent into combat and then return home to
civilian life, where the experience of killing will stay with them for years.
How are soldiers trained to kill and how do they cope?
No one knows how many thousands of Iraqis were killed in the war that toppled
Saddam Hussein's regime. But if history is any guide, some of the troops who
saw combat will come home to face a longer battle -- with their memories.

The sights, the sounds and the smells of killing may follow soldiers for
 years.

CNN correspondent Candy Crowley examines the effects of war through the eyes
of three combat veterans (WW2, Vietnam, & Iraq) in "Fit To Kill."

here are some thoughts to consider or maybe just accept without judgement as
judegement in sense of peace rationale is absent.

Very simple- each individual completes specific traing during basic and then
continues it throughout their enlistment. This is called Common Tasks Training
(CTT) and as reported in Army Times the emphasis is increasing with the
current and planned deployments.

It does not take very long to prepsare someone o kill and destroy at all.
about 3-4 weeks and they are ready, willing, and able.

Cope?

the excitement and thrill and power is awesome. cope- during kiling thier is
no thought just do it and continue.

first time- what did I do?

second time - why but then I must and it is justfied

third time and on- wow and no thoughts at all you just kill and destroy.
compltele deteached.
just kill and destroy

Today, the problem is when compounded lies like today on why we are in Iraq,
Afghsanistan, Balkans all must be considered in light / perspective of what
one is doing.

but this information is totally controlled so warriors have no other input to
compare it to. thus all you know, see, hear justifies killing and
destroying.
but email and communication is changing that

still killing and destroying is accepted and cherished.

but today cracks appera and thus that is why suicides occur and trops are
refusing to go back.

but stil overall.

KILLING AND DESTROYING ARE A THRILL..

on long term coping- you can;'t change anything. you can't go back, you know
the thrill-

SO YOU JUST ACCEPT IT AND GO ON JUST LIKE MILLIONS AND MILLIONS HAVE DONE
THROUGH THE AGES IN ALL COUNTRIES AND CULTURES DURING AND AFTER ALL WARS,
SKIRMISHES, INCIDENTS, BATLES, ETC.

but it still has an effect that you just live with

MEMORIES- KILLlIG AND DESTROYING ARE AND CAN BE A POSITIVE (the power- the
psychological highs0 NOT NEGATIVE MEMORY..

MEMORY- you remember but just go on.
