I've sent the message below to a number of people who aren't on our
various lists and so may not hear about it otherwise.  How about sending
a version of such a message to your own list of friends and contacts?

 
Dear friends, 

This is a special invitation to attend the ART AUCTION: Postcards for
Peace.  More than 50 local, national and international artists have
submitted over 100 pieces of greatly varied work, all 4 X  6 inches (the
size of a postcard) and all matted and framed, ready for hanging. 8 of
the works have been selected to be reproduced as postcards and these
will go on sale for the first time as well, ready for the holiday
season. The work will be hung Thursday afternoon (November 11) and can
be seen from then until the bidding begins on SUNDAY November 14/   2 to
5 pm/  at The Cowboy Monkey in downtown Champaign (formerly The Blind
Pig). Come early to bid on your favorite pieces, or just come and enjoy
the show (music by Darrin Drda, food and drinks, good art, good
atmosphere). All the proceeds go to support AWARE (Anti-War Anti-Racism
Effort) and the IMC (Independent Media Center).
