condoms break all the time.  Diaphragms slip or rip. Young women get raped 
in dormitories and on dates. ( I have many friends who had this experience, 
and probably many more who have not told me about such experiences.)  I'm 
not willing to tell young men and women (including my own kids) "if 
something like that happens to you, it's just tough, there's no 
recourse.  your life is just going to be tougher because we don't have 
better contraceptive technologies."  That's just not true.
