For those interested:

Latest Illinois polling indicates Kerry over Bush by 12% with 6% undecided
(margin of error 3.5).

This poll and other recent polls are at:
http://www.realclearpolitics.com/Presidential_04/il_polls.html

As per "Luke" at the Champaign County Clerk elections office:

There are precisely six presidential write-in candidates to choose from (and
one can ask for a list at the poll).

In alphabetical order:

Lawson Bone
David Cobb
John Joseph Kennedy
Ralph Nader
Michael Peroutka
Ernest Virag

Write-in candidates are written on the inside of the flap of the envelope
that the punch-card ballot comes in.

There is a box to mark with an "X", a space for "Title of Office" and
another space for "Name of Candidate".

Details (including a diagram with a valid write-in example) are available on
pages 44-46 in the 2004 Illinois election judge manual for punch cards at:

http://www.elections.state.il.us/ElecInfo/pages/downloads/pdf/03punch.pdf

And, of course, if you want to write-in a candidate, you shouldn't punch the
actual punch-card ballot for *any* of the candidates actually listed (Kerry,
Bush, Badnarik). If you mistakenly punch the card for one of the candidates
on the ballot *and* write in a candidate, that invalidates your vote.
