[Peace-discuss] Murtha (and Obama) on the war

Hey! Nonagenarians could be very effective.
> On this point, Obama and the Bush men agree:
> one, stabilize Iraq, avoid all out civil war, and give the
factions within Iraq the space they need to forge a
political settlement;
> two, contain and ultimately extinguish the insurgency in
Iraq; and
> three, bring our troops safely home.'
One and two cannot happen while Iraq is an occupied country.
As a compromise, could they (Obama and "the Bush men") be
convinced to bring the troops home now, and if Iraq invited
the US back, then the world would be more likely to join the
effort? That the US would be more effective as an invited
Peace Keeping force than as an unwanted Occupier? Or are
they afraid that they would not be invited back, and so
cling to every strand of the failing rope?
