These earlier Pagan holidays and traditions only seem vague
and unimportant because we have very few written records of
them. This is because their cultures were exterminated by a
series of violent and murderous pogroms, many of them carried
out by Christian authorities within the Catholic Church. This
partly explains the absolute ascendancy of the "one true
faith". Before there were many.

I wonder, will my kids someday say, "Gee, look at the Iraqis
today! They seem so much more powerful and specific than the
Iraqis of earlier centuries!"

Cultural memory is inherently racist, it seems. (Mine included.)

Happy holidays to all people!
