[Peace-discuss] Letter's to the editor N-G

Dear AWARE members:
I am hoping that one or more of our many articulate writers might respond to the 2 very negative letters to the editor about AWARE's participation in the 4th of July Parade.  Incase you did not see the letters the one yesterday (7/6) was from a Laura Bedwell of Urbana.  Her letter was for the most part opposing Paul King wearing his uniform and carrying an anti-war sign.  She called him a fool and thinks that next year our group should not be permitted to participate.  Today's (7/7) letter is from Nick Donaldson from Champaign and he was appalled by our float.  "Independence day is just not the time for such things".  Most of his letter didn't really make much sense.  
I guess we hit a few nerves and I am hoping someone might offer a quick and well worded response.  Some of us have already written this month...but I hope the N-G might print something soon that offers balance.  When letters begin with "On behalf of many offended attendees"..... I feel a response is in order.
