The fact is that the Democrats are straining at the filibuster gnat and
swallowing the Iraqi camel, because they agree with the Republicans that
swallowing the camel is a good idea. After the 100-0 vote in the Senate
to pay current expenses for the war, the US is building four more huge
permanent bases in Iraq -- a Fort Apache strategy, the Indian Wars being
the US military's guiding image (as it was in Vietnam). --CGE
