Hi Everyone,

I'm in Beijing at the moment and am blogging my experience. I
thought some of you might be interested in some of the posts 
since I can't help but write about politics and culture much
of the time. I've also taken the liberty of quoting some text
from 
an article by Lewis Lapham that Carl sent to the AWARE 
listserv a while back.

Also, if I've made any factual errors, don't hesitate to email
