Hello,

My name is Lori Haymon. On the 5th of April I was given a DUI by two police
officers of Champaign. However, my driving was not impaired by the influence
of drugs or alcohol, and the arresting officers more than once told me that
they believed that I was not intoxicated. I was given the DUI anyway, and I
have a court date of May 5, 2006. I read about your efforts in the DI, and
being an Black American I feel that my case is an example of type of racial
profiling and police abuse that your organization aims to eliminate. I fully
believe that had I been a White American I would not have gotten the DUI, I
would not have been taken to the police station, and I would not have been
asked the type of questions that I was asked (including, "Do you smoke
crack?"). If you have any advise for me in this situation, it would be
greatly appreciated.

Sincerely,

Lori M Haymon
