FROM 1936 TO 1939 THERE WAS A REVOLT BY THE
PALESTINIAN ARABS AGAINST BRITISH OCCUPATION, WHAT CAN
BE CALLED A FAILED WAR OF INDEPENDENCE. IT WAS PUT
DOWN BRUTALLY BY THE BRITISH WITH THE HELP OF THE
JEWISH SETTLERS. THE PALESTINIAN LEADERSHIP WAS
DECIMATED, LEADING TO THE NEXT CATASTROPHE IN 1948.

THE 1948 WAR WAS A TEPID ATTEMPT AT FACE-SAVING BY
ARAB LEADERS, ESPECIALLY THE JORDANIANS, WHO IN FACT
HAD AN AGREEMENT WITH ISRAEL TO DIVIDE UP THE
PALESTINIAN 45% OF PALESTINE BETWEEN THEM.
