1. Campus Unions/JwJ Quad Day Action  TODAY
2. Call Herman: Don't Renew the Coke Contract TOMORROW

1. TODAY labor unions on the UIUC campus are coming together to resist a
common threat!  The university is trying to balance its budget on the backs
of its lowest paid employees. Unions are finding that the University seems
to be uninterested in serious negotiations.  Join campus unions and Jobs
With Justice in a show of solidarity TODAY, 4-5:30pm!

Rally at 4pm at the University Archway, Illinois & Lincoln.
Then march with us! (Join up with the march when you can.)
Main Library at 4:30.
Swanlund Building at 4:45.
Rally at the Alma Mater statue, Green & Wright at 5pm.

2. TOMORROW The Coalition Against Coke Contracts First Day of School
Action!:

On Wednesday [August 23, 2006], please call the office of Chancellor Richard
Herman (217-333-6290) to express your concerns about the current exclusive
contracts between University of Illinois and Coca-Cola. Most likely, you
will be asked to leave a message. Introduce yourself as
student/staff/faculty/community member. Suggested rap: "I am calling to
express my concerns over university's exclusive beverage contracts with
Coca-Cola. Coke is responsible for many violations of human rights and labor
rights, as wells as environmental degradation. University of Illinois should
NOT do business with a corporation that puts profits over human rights.
Please DO NOT renew the contract with Coca-Cola." Please email [
