Minutes for Sunday, December 3

I. Working Groups
1. Financial Report: balance at $2738.40
2. Main Event- went very well and our picture was in Sunday's News
Gazette, page 4
3. Village Market- a single hostile person- discussion: so much LESS
hostility lately! Compare to how we were received when the war started- we
have made some impact or people are getting smart.
4. Postcards For Peace Campaign - 400-500 postcards already written,
anticipating a shortfall in money, need to come up with some creative
ideas for sending the postcards- next meeting: Tuesday 12/5 at 1 pm at
Strawberry Fields
5. AWARE Presents- meeting last Monday, lots of possible programs to work on.
6. Church Presence- not enough interest to do a presence this upcoming
Sunday, although possibly later this year. Linda, Mort, Carl, and Jan will
be on the air with "Keepin The Faith" this Sunday 12/10 5-6pm the topic is
"Religious Groups and The War"
7. Anti-Racism/Courtwatch- CUCPJ is working on the tasering incident- meet
every Saturday at 4pm at IMC
8. Counter-Recruitment- Following up on the lost counter-recruitment DVD
given to UHS and working on finding out more about the legality of police
actions at the IHSA football tournament
9. Student Groups- highschool coalition being formed (OutCRY Coalition for
Resisting Youth) which will serve as a network to connect existing
political or community service groups at the various highschools in C-U,
will begin meeting in january. Anti-war UIUC student group meeting Tuesday
12/5 6-8pm 100 Greg Hall
10. ICPJ- still looking for place for conference on March 31st
11. Iran (new ideas)- contact Nancy Pelosi and Henry Reid to urge them to
oppose attacking Iran and to take back the power of the legislative branch
to declare war over the executive.

Wednesday 12/6 GEO rally and march at noon meet at Alma Mater
Wednesday 12/6 Anti-poverty meeting at IMC 5-7pm
Thursday 12/7 CARE3 meeting at Urban League 11.30am
Thursday 12/7 Urban League meeting at Illinois Terminal 6pm
12/12 Champaign City Council meeting (on General Assistance, I believe)
