[Peace-discuss] defend democratic rights!

Dear Friends,
   
  I'm asking you to take a moment to help defend basic democratic rights. 
   
  The crux of the matter is that Socialist Equality Party campaign volunteers have been ordered off of public sidewalks outside of both Champaign and Urbana's public libraries, in clear contravention to freedom of speech and the political process, and in a second instance a supporter was harrassed by a Champaign police officer.  All of this last week.  These acts cut against our ability to gain the minimum number of signatures in order to place Joe Parnarauskis on the ballot.
   
  We're asking people to write in e-mails of protest to the Champaign and Urbana mayors' offices.  Those addresses are contained at the end of the short article linked below.
