[Peace-discuss] 4th of July float

Here's my idea for a 4th of July float where the theme is "Broadcasting Our
Freedoms". A tall, thin middle-aged white male with a white beard and
dressed in an Uncle Sam outfit stands proudly at one end of the float. He
has one of those long gold trumpets in his mouth, such as heralds used to
use and angels are portrayed as using. Out of the other end of the trumpet
protrude signs or banners proclaiming "Freedom", "Democracy", "The American
Dream", etc. Uncle Sam has twin six-guns strapped to his waist, and from
all of his pockets dollars are seen to protrude, with some spilling out
onto the floor of the float. Also on the floor of the float is a clearly
labeled copy of the Constitution, looking like it has been discarded, maybe
with a dirty footprint on it.

Behind Uncle Sam's back, at the other end of the float, there is a
tableau: (1) A white police officer has a black male spread-eagled and is
in the process of handcuffing him, while a white judge stands next to them
with law books in hand, waiting impatiently. (2) A female attired in
American military garb has her foot on the head of a thin Arab-looking guy
who is on his belly and manacled, maybe with a hood over his head. In one
hand she holds a rifle, and in the other hand a can of clearly-labeled
motor oil. (3) A third white person in a vaguely military-looking uniform
is seen erecting a section of tall fencing, barbed wire on top, while on
the other side of the fence three or four Mexican-looking people are
standing and gazing, holding work implements such as a hoe and a
hammer. (4) Finally, another middle aged white man, this one in a business
suit, is simultaneously pushing away a white male clad in coveralls, and
wielding a whip over several Asian-looking women and children seated at
sewing machines making coveralls.

Feel free to expand or embellish on my ideas here.

Respectfully submitted,

John Wason
