Just a gentle reminder, at the risk of alienating valued friends, that this particular list is the ORGANIZING list for Socialist Forum, not the discussion list.  This partiular discussion grew naturally out of a posting Bob Naiman made to try to turn people out for a specific event (part of the purpose of the list) and Carl responded in good faith.  But the length of the discussion already far exceeds the purpose of the list and is likely to be testing the patience of folks in various quarters.  

The message is not that this is not a vital debate (it is), only that it does not belong on this particular list.
