[Peace-discuss] Kinzer -- Feb'08 event in CU / recent focus 580 interview on different subject

Kinzer's reporting from Nicaragua in the (first) Sandinista era was
quite awful. As far as I know, he never disowned that.

Besides that, however, as far as I know, he has been on the side of
the angels. His book about Iran is very, very good; and his line on US
policy towards Iran is very, very good; and his line on US foreign
policy in general is very, very good. We spoke together at
Northwestern in a panel on U.S. policy towards Pakistan, and we had no
substantive disagreement, although the discussion covered a wide range
of US foreign policy issues.

Of course, if he were just Joe Schmo, we wouldn't be bothering with
him; the point of the tour is that he will a) strongly oppose
attacking Iran b) strongly support real diplomacy c) has mainstream
credentials that will attract much more attention than if any of us
said the same things.
