>From the founder of Jewish Witnesses for Peace, Ann Arbor:
When Good for the Goose is Bad for the Gander
Jewish Witnesses for Peace and Friends have been
holding silent vigils in front of Beth Israel, a
local synagogue, for well over 3 years. The hue
and cry from some corners has been shrill and
long: numerous letters to the editor,
condemnation from the Ann Arbor City Council,
anti-vigil letters from some clergy, and even
criticism from local so-called peace
organizations. So when the David Project, a
Jewish pro-Israel group protests in front of two
churches in the Boston area, then brags about
their deed in the Jewish Press, why is there not
a peep of outrage by other clergy, local press, city councils, etc?
A tip of the hat to Vigiller G for forwarding
this information on and who first noted the
discrepancy and hypocrisy in criticizing one
group, while turning a blind eye toward the other. Sound familiar?
Here's a quote from the following link (full text
after signature) "So [Hillel] Stavis, along with
the help of a dozen other concerned citizens and
the Jewish Community Relations Council of Greater
Boston, succeeded last weekend in ousting the
first of such groups from Cambridge churches.
After weeks of holding signs and peacefully
protesting outside, Jewish advocates achieved the
removal of the Center for Palestine Human Rights
from their headquarters at the First Church."

And the following quote from an actual observer
of David Project protesters reveal a fundamental
tactical difference between the Davids and
JWPF: "They [David Project] picketed [the] last
year or so [at] the Memorial Church (Harvard)
because [a representative of] Sabeel, a Christian
Palestinian educator was speaking. A small group
of us did a vigil to support the church. They
tried to block my sign and were generally
obnoxious ... The police did insist that
everyone stay off the steps but of course the
David Project kept trying to obstruct."
