[Peace-discuss] One side

I am a nurse. Fortunately, I don't have a panel of individuals who have no
understanding of the health care system second-guessing my actions. I can't
imagine the undue stress that would be caused if every time I had to make a
split-second decision I could look forward to answering to a group of people
who lack any knowledge pertaining to health care. They all would bring their
own perspectives and agendas. This is the information they would use to
judge me and my actions.

This is what our local police officers have to look forward to. They will
have a group of people with no understanding of the legal system or law
enforcement playing Monday-morning quarterback.

I wonder how they will recruit individuals to be on that board. I imagine it
will read something like this: Seeking individuals who feel you have been
wronged by the police, have been arrested, have a family member that has
been arrested or have received a speeding ticket you don't feel you
deserved.

To be considered you must have no knowledge of the legal system or law
enforcement and be willing to stand on your soapbox and critique the actions
of the police. Preference will be given to those who have watched several
episodes of "Cops." Law-abiding, taxpaying, hardworking individuals who
respect the police and their authority with no history or family history of
incarceration, probation or house arrest need not apply.
