Champaign-Urbana Iraq Veterans Against the War (IVAW) Speak-out

Come out to hear the stories of what it means to be in the United States Military and on the ground in Iraq.  These testimonies will make it clear why the troops need to come home NOW.

Speaking: "a performance that bridges distance and rejects mediation" 
 
In this performance three "Iraq Veterans Against the War" bridge the 
distance to the Iraq War with memories.  These memories are spoken 
testimonies that reject the sensationalized, binary, and ideological 
narratives presented by politicians and mass media.   
 
In contrast the emotions and anxieties of a personal war experience are 
embraced, resulting in layers of dialog that complicate not only mass 
media's narrative of the war but also the visual memory expressed in the 
painting "Between F.O.B. Junction City and the Tigres River..."
