Parents want son home soon from Iraq

Sunday May 6, 2007

Our son is currently in Iraq representing the United States as a
specialist in the U.S. Army. Two years ago, he agreed to serve this
nation, trusting the judgment of his commanders, both military and
civilian.

President Bush has refused to discuss a withdrawal from Iraq, even
though an overwhelming majority of the country wants this war to end.
Last November, when Americans elected some new blood into Congress, we
were hopeful the tide on Iraq would change.

Like our son, we trusted U.S. Rep. Tim Johnson when he stated prior to
the November election that he would not blindly support all of Bush's
policies. Johnson specifically said that finding an exit strategy was
something he wanted done "sooner rather than later."

However, what did Johnson do recently when called to vote on the Bush
troop surge? He lined up with President Bush and the rest of the
Republicans in escalating the war. We believe Johnson has failed to
live up to his election promises.

He will continue supporting whatever Bush and the Republican Party
want. He will continue making empty promises to get re-elected.

We e-mailed the representative about our feelings prior to his war
surge vote. We didn't even get the courtesy of a response. Right now,
we wish someone with the guts to do what is right was representing our
district, and so does our son.
