  J10 Metro Ads Go Up?See Racist Counter-Ad

  <!--[if !vml]--><!--[endif]-->This week 20 gigantic ads went up in downtown Washington, DC metro train stations advertising the historic June 10-11 mobilization to protest 40 years of Israel's illegal military occupation of the Palestinian West Bank, East Jerusalem, and Gaza Strip. To view a low-resolution version of the ad, click here.
  We'd like to thank Cultures of Resistance for its generous support of this ad campaign. For more information about Cultures of Resistance, click here.
  The mobilization is being organized by the US Campaign to End the Israeli Occupation and United for Peace and Justice, and is endorsed by more than 240 organizations. For additional details, click here.

  It is fitting that this advertising campaign went up this week because today, May 15, marks another important date: al-Nakba Day, commemorating the 59th anniversary of the ethnic cleansing and dispossession that Palestinians suffered when Israel was founded. The effects of this catastrophe still linger today as Israel refuses to recognize the internationally-accepted right of return of Palestinian refugees who were exiled from their homeland. As we commemorate the 40th anniversary of Israel's illegal military occupation of the Palestinian West Bank, East Jerusalem, and Gaza Strip, we also enter the year leading up to the 60th anniversary of al-Nakba.
  Advertisers estimate that the ads will be seen 9 million times by Washington, DC-area commuters over the next four weeks, educating millions of people about how their tax dollars are being used to fund Israel's illegal military occupation and human rights abuses against Palestinians.
  You can help us get the word out to more people and make this mobilization a huge success by making a generous tax-deductible contribution today by clicking here.
  Organizations that support Israel's illegal military occupation and human rights abuses against Palestinians are so concerned about our ad campaign that they've countered with not one, but two, racist ad campaigns of their own.
  <!--[if !vml]--><!--[endif]-->
  One ad campaign, sponsored by Amcha and Washington Rabbis for Israel, claims that Palestinian society raises its children on "dreams of suicide/homicide and hatred". It goes on to claim that by supporting Israel's brutal repression of the Palestinians, "you are helping defend the cause of freedom" and that "Israel shares America's values". To view a photo of the ad, click here.
  When it comes to illegal military occupations, it is true that "Israel shares America's values". For four years, the United States has waged an illegal war on and occupied Iraq, committing massive human rights violations against Iraqis, including the killing of civilians, the destruction of civilian infrastructure, torture, collective punishment, and more. Palestinians living under Israeli military occupation for 40 years are too familiar with these "values".

  We need your support to continue to effectively dismantle the propaganda peddled by these organizations that Israel is "the front line of the free world". Make your generous tax-deductible contribution today and help us get the word out about the June 10-11 mobilization by clicking here.
  Now is the time to make your plans to come to Washington, DC on June 10-11 to be part of this historic mobilization. For all the logistical details you need, click here.
