[Peace-discuss] The case for Ron Paul

This is exceptionally poor, in its logic and its persuasiveness.
It's almost too bad to even refute. But essentially (1) the assumption in line 3 "with a chance
to win" is major and not convincing, (2) this doesn't even attempt to address all the reasons
we've been alluding to here (racism, healthcare, welfare, immigration, etc.) that we shouldn't go
anywhere near Ron Paul with a vote, and (3) the last third or more of the article - the sort of
'let them come' chest-thumping doesn't speak to Paul's worth and anyway could be said of
candidates like Kucinich who are also in the race.
And, by the way, it's interesting that the author mentions how the "antiwar candidate Howard Dean"
(sic) was treated by the media ... and not Kucinich (maybe because Kucinich is still an option for
folks who might like what he's written about R. Paul?)
R. Paul is becoming a darling of folks who find it clever to discover an antiwar Republican - of
which there are of course others - and I think we can all understand that impulse and be glad that
there is such a candidate - it's a testament to how far the country has swung and how actively,
vocally, visibly people even in this country are against the war - but that does not make R. Paul
our candidate. Sorry.
