Here's how our "anti-war" senators did:

Durbin voted FOR the amendment; Obama skipped the vote (and McCain was
the only other senator who did.)

Hypocrites.

Dear Supporter of a Just Foreign Policy in Iran,

We have bad news, some good news and a follow-up to your action against
the Kyl-Lieberman amendment on Iran.

First, the bad news: the Kyl-Lieberman amendment was approved earlier
today by the Senate. If passed into law, the amendment would designate
Iran's army as a "terrorist group," a very aggressive measure that could
push us closer to military conflict with Iran.

(You can see how your Senators voted here
<http://salsa.democracyinaction.org/dia/track.jsp?key=424361851&url_num=1&url=http%3A%2F%2Fwww.senate.gov%2Flegislative%2FLIS%2Froll_call_lists%2Froll_call_vote_cfm.cfm%3Fcongress%3D110%26amp%3Bsession%3D1%26amp%3Bvote%3D00349>.)

The good news is that we won some important victories. The sponsors of
the amendment were compelled to weaken it substantially, deleting
language that would have endorsed the use of military force to confront
Iran. Plus, many Senators who voted to escalate conflict against Iran in
the past voted with us today.

Senator Jim Webb of Virginia took forcefully to the floor of the Senate
to speak eloquently against this amendment, pointing out that no foreign
army has ever before been designated a terrorist organization and that
this could pave the way to war.

If you have a moment, please look up how your Senators voted on this
amendment here
<http://salsa.democracyinaction.org/dia/track.jsp?key=424361851&url_num=2&url=http%3A%2F%2Fwww.senate.gov%2Flegislative%2FLIS%2Froll_call_lists%2Froll_call_vote_cfm.cfm%3Fcongress%3D110%26amp%3Bsession%3D1%26amp%3Bvote%3D00349>.

Then, call them either to thank them for voting "No," or express your
disappointment that they voted "Aye." The Congressional switchboard is
202-224-3121.

It is disappointing to lose votes like this, but we are making progress.
Our actions have made a difference.

Thank you for all you do for a just foreign policy,

Robert Naiman, Patrick McElwee, and Chelsea Mozen
