[Peace-discuss] Fw: Oct 27: Attendance & Contributions

I've not heard from anyone stepping up to be the contact for this. Was it
discussed at all at today's meeting? Is there anyone interested in organizing
carpools or even just attending themselves? Have we all given up on big
demonstrations? Is there any interest in kicking some funds in for the cause
(see below for details).

: As you know, United for Peace & Justice has called for regional antiwar
: demonstrations on October 27. Of the 11 regional demos, the Midwest demo in
Chicago
: is shaping up to be one of the biggest. Already 200 organizations have
: endorsed, and trains are being reserved and busses chartered, bringing antiwar
: protesters from Detroit, Kalamazoo, St. Louis, The Twin Cities, Madison,
Milwaukee,
: Cincinnati, Cleveland and elsewhere. This promises to be by far largest
: Midwest peace manifestation of the war. And about time, too!

: We hope as many people as possible from your group will attend. Please let us
: know your plans. The day will kick off at 1:30 pm with a rally at Union Park
: on the west side of downtown Chicago, followed by a march to the Federal Plaza
: and a concluding rally. The event will wrap up at 6 pm.

: It's urgently important for UFPJ organizations to kick in contributions.
: The preliminary budget for October 27 is $45,000. That's forty-five thousand
: dollars! So far we've raised a third of that amount.
