[Peace-discuss] Seminar

I was at a meeting last night and a Lieutenant from the Champaign Police
Department was talking about issues that have arisen with patrolling the
neighborhood and he made the comment that often young people have been
taught by their parents and peers to not trust the police. Even though what
happened with Brian Chesley is a travesty of the justice system it also
brings to the surface that there really needs to be better communication
between citizens and public servants. At least in Urbana there is a
citizens review board in place, and in Champaign we need to find another way
to address citizen concerns. While a citizens review board is ideal...I'm
not holding my breath.
