Economist Dean Baker, of the Center for Economic and Policy Research,
estimates that lifting the sanctions on Iran could lead to an increase
in oil production 5 to 10 times the EIA's estimates for McCain's
Offshore Drilling. [MOD.] (Modest conservation would lead to the
equivalent of 16 MODs.) If more Americans knew this, real negotiations
with Iran might be more likely.
