The present hostilities were -- as a matter of sober literal fact -- started by 
the Georgian president with an rocket and ground assault (with soldiers said to 
be wearing US uniforms) on civilians in the city of Tshkinvali.  Apparently he 
killed hundreds of people there.

The Russian response seems consistent with Article 51 of the UN charter (which, 
e.g., the US assault on Serbia wasn't) and a just war, according to the 
traditional criteria.  --CGE
