Upcoming events from AWARE meeting of 3/16/2008

Mon Mar 17  10pm  UPTV Channel 6
    Broadcast of *last week's* "AWARE on the Air" 
    (Carl E., David G., David H. & Linda W.).
    Its broadcast last week had been pre-empted by a long-running
    Urbana City Council meeting.

    This means there will *not* be an AWARE-on-the-Air recording
    session on Mon 3/17.  It'll resume the following Monday.


Tue Mar 18  6pm  Parkland College, room 244
    Naomi Jakobsson will lead hearings on the IL state budget --
    anyone welcome to speak.

Wed Mar 19  5:00pm-6:15pm  Urbana Veterans' Memorial, Broadway & Main
    Vigil to mourn the beginning of the sixth year
    of the US invasion of Iraq.

    There are at least three commemorations going on in town that day.
    The other two are:

          5:30-??  Neil & Kirby, Champaign (by Walgreen's)
	      Another vigil.

	  various times, 805 S. Sixth St., Champaign
	      Community United Church of Christ will toll their bells
	      at 8:00am, 12:15pm and 7:00pm, and will hold a service
	      of some kind -- not sure of details

Sat Mar 29   noon  Douglass Branch Library
    Next in a series of public meetings
    on the 5th & Hill St (Champaign) toxic site.

    I think something was mentioned for 3/30 but didn't

    Champaign Township meeting for vote of

    Illinois Coalition for Peace & Justice annual conference
    (Barbara Kessel is proposing a session to coordinate statewide
    advisory referenda in support of the state bill limiting activities of
    private military contractors.)

Sat April 5  2-4pm  -- Main & Neil, Champaign
    Main Event -- Monthly antiwar demonstration
    'Winter Soldier' theme

Tue April 8 -- in townships all across Illinois,
	including Champaign and Cunningham(Urbana)

    Annual township meeting night!
