Douglass Park Police Brutality Case picks jurors, case expected to go to Friday

URBANA- From a jury pool of 45, (21 males, 23 males- of that 1 African
American male, 1 latino female, and 1 latino male, the rest white people)
12 (all white, as none of the minorities were randomly chosen by the
court clerk for voir doire) were selected in an all-day jury selection
process. Jurors were interviewed at length about their relationship to
the police, relationships to black people, their ability to accept one
story over another- how they would determine who is telling the truth.

The case might have over 17 witnesses for the defense,
and all three Champaign Police officers are expected
to testify TODAY.  Trial starts today, at 9:15 a.m. in
Courtroom E.
