Where: Independent Media Center (main floor), Broadway and Elm, Urbana
When: 7:00PM this Thursday, Nov. 6th, for about 90 minutes
What: Documentary film of Iraq Veterans Against the War (IVAW)'s
"Winter Soldier: Iraq and Afghanistan" event,
which had been held last spring
Why: a- In runup to next week's (Nov 13th) *local* Winter Soldier event,
announced elsewhere on this list - don't miss that!
b- Our new Pres. Obama is inheriting our old wars,
and we need to oppose them even more vigorously.
IVAW has remained a strong and consistent antiwar voice --
let's support them.
More:
Back in March, 2008, Iraq Veterans Against the War held a gathering
in Washington, DC, "Winter Soldier: Iraq and Afghanistan",
with testimony about the realities of war from veterans,
from Iraqis, from scholars and journalists.
*Next* week, on Nov 13th, the local chapter of Iraq Veterans Against the War
will put on a similar event *right here in Urbana* -- as described here recently --
one of a series of Winter Soldier gatherings around the US this year.
Don't miss that!
But *this* week, on Thursday, Nov. 6th, please come watch a documentary film
about the March 2008 Winter Soldier in DC.
Be aware: some of the testimony makes grim listening and watching --
war is a terrible business, something mainstream media accounts rarely reveal.
Hope you can attend. The film is about 90 minutes long.
