[Peace-discuss] Bill Maher's Statement to the Hardcore Right Wingers

Interestingly, this may be a bit of picking and choosing on both Maher's
part as to what battles he is willing to be a progressive on as well as on
the part of the person who posted the link. Depending on the particular
issues at hand, Maher has been hardcore right wing on some and hard core
left wing on others; he has never really been radical; at best, he has been
a PC reformer/progressive and traditional Democratic liberal. He has been
his most hardcore left on issues of social and racial justice. He is closer
to Biden than to Chomsky/Zinn/Kline or Bernie Sanders on most political and
economic issues and sometimes to the right of Biden on law and order issues.
He definitely is neither a Lenny Bruce, Mort Sahl , Pat Paulsen, or the
Smothers Brothers when it comes to the consistency of his political stance
across issues; however, he has been somewhat consistent within issue areas.

We absolutely have to refuse to attribute any kind of permanency to that
which is simply because it is.

Finish each day and be done with it. You have done what you could. Some
blunders and absurdities have crept in; forget them as soon as you can.
Tomorrow is a new day. You shall begin it serenely and with too high a
spirit to be encumbered with your old nonsense.
